Why would either of those have any effect *after removing the mask*?
Oh well, guess I'm just dumb PR.
The things you suggested seem to be something that would cause a smell while using the machine, no?

What is your machine?

Please see my post about the odd odor I sometimes detect when using my AirSense 10. You'll need to search for a recent post on this forum with subject "Dry eyes and AirSense 10".

I get this odor even when not using heated hose or integral heated humidifier. Those are both turned off. I can usually detect the odor (in the mask only) when I allow a large burst of air to flow through the machine by taking a very deep breath with mask on or allowing a sudden large "leak" by breaking mask seal. The machine "revs" as it tries to compensate for the sudden pressure loss, and I can smell the odor. When the machine returns to normal pressure and motor speed the smell vanishes.

I can also smell the same odor when I blow my nose after awakening in the morning, as if something were depositing in my sinuses. I'm already concerned about recurring dry eyes and sinusitis, and am wondering if something in the machine could be the cause.

I think you need to take it apart and investigate. The manufacturer would no doubt benefit from your expert analysis of the failure mode. Make a video and post it on YouTube so we all can learn from your observations.

You're absolutely right, but your solution is too logical and easy.

I look forward to the running commentary.

Actually, if the DME was smart, the minute he walked out the door, they closed shop and moved... no forwarding address.

I'd rather be a Real Peach, even with a worm, they can be sweet, Libturds, can never be Sweet, they don't have any Sweet Genes. Jim

Add some water to the humidity chamber.. even just a little. See if that helps.

Didn't I see you in the Wizard of Oz, riding your Broom. Beware of water, and keep your flying monkeys on a leash. One thing, you won't melt from being sweet, no-ones taste buds can mistake you!
