Met new doc

Post by krousseau » Wed Oct 04, 2006 11:32 pm

Met the new sleep doc today and he was very positive about self-managment. We looked at my original sleep studies and several recent printouts. He made some suggestions. Felt I could lower my pressure range and that if I lower the pressure and still see goal AHI (<5) it is fine with him. If I have to start increasing the pressure to get to goal he wants to know about it. He knew about different masks and suggested I try lowering my upper pressure before I retire my Hybrid for good.

Your new Doc sounds very promising. I wish you continued success working with him. What was the reason for lowering the pressure before retiring the hybrid?

I had the same question as Brenda.

In addition, did he say why it was important for him to know if you raise the pressure. I'm guessing that it is more dangerous to raise the pressure than it is to lower it.

By using a lower pressure on the hybrid, you will have less leaks and less washout flow, the machine will be better able to maintain the spec pressure.

He is probably worried about increasing Centrals with added pressure. Jim

I'm guessing your 95% pressure is much lower than 14 cm/H2O, or the
doc would not have suggested the change.

For me, I would not lower the max pressure until I have a month's data
that suggests a change.

+ Aussie heated hose.
