Macs and Sleepyhead

Post by lliann » Sat Jul 29, 2017 6:54 am

So I d/ld the latest version of Sleepyhead for Macs and seem to being running into issues . I am reading Robysue's article on Sleepyhead and she states:

"NOTE: Future versions of SleepyHead will probably NOT run on XP, Vista, or Mac OS X 10.6. These operating systems are no longer officially supported by their creators, and and users of these operating systems are running a great security risk if they use them online. "

My Mac is running on Sierra 10.12.6. Does that mean I cannot use Sleepyhead? Some of the problems are it runs from dates 2013 until Sept 2018 with actual data on some of those future dates. My current d/ls dont look quite right to me. I used to have Sleepyhead on an older Mac and remember some datalog file? Plus photobucket is not free anymore and I am trying to use Imgur.

I am totally confused. Could someone help me out?

I had SH installed on my old machine (using Snow Leopard) when that machine got fried and I got a refurb from Apple that only came with Sierra installed. SH (along with everything else) was installed here from my external drive that I thankfully had running with old machine... so while I haven't actually used SH yet, I believe it likely would work, or wouldn't have installed so readily. But I could be wrong of course and otherwise hate Sierra - took me forever to get my mail set up again the way I like it, plus other things I can't stand about it.

lliann,

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with SH on your mac. In theory, SleepyHead 1.0.0-beta-2 ought to run just fine on your Mac 10.12.6 machine. I think you are the first person to report problems. Screenshots would be useful.

Imgur is no harder to use than photobucket. Just set up an account. You upload the images in much the same way. And Imgur makes it easy to copy and paste the code needed to embed the image in a post. If you select the "Large Thumbnail" link, that will even rescale the image to an appropriate size.

The latest SH should work on your Mac but you could try the prior version to see if it is less problematic for you.
Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier...brain fart I guess.

The 4th one down is the Mac version.

When using imgur make sure you are logged into your account or you don't get the box of all the address choices where you see the thumbnail stuff too.
