Ted,
Have you tried it? Seems as though there would be a lot of torque on the nasal chamber from the hose. Otherwise it looks like its about as pared down a systme as you can get. If it works it would be great.
Does it have different size pillows? Are they replaceable?

Wader,
I have not tried the mask as of yet.
The Infinity comes with 4 sizes in the box. The pillow sleeves are replacable.
Like any mask, there will be fans and then there will be the people who don't like it. Everyone has a different idea of what is good for them.
Thanks God for that. If everyone liked only one mask, we wouldn't have the selection we have now.
Regards,
Ted

The link has an information page and closeups. It says there is also a sizing guide included. Looks interesting, but I'm wondering about the hose swiveling comfortable during sleep when you change positions, and it would also seem that those of us who have the hose above the bed on the headboard instead of across the bed might have some problems.
Ted, if you get one to try out, could you check out that aspect too? It might be the answer for us women especially, who can't stand all those bands and stuff giving us CPAP-Head every morning and breaking our hair off. I've been wondering if a "headband" like the Infinity's might work with the Swift.
Well, a gal can hope.

Janelle,
I think that using a headband is the cure for almost all mask troubles.. hehehe
If I get a chance to try it, I will post about it.
I have a review on the Aura CPAP Patient Interface comming out soon. Pictures and all.

But, will we have to pay for the pictures?
-SWS (Liam2),
What are your thoughts on the F&P 481? Looks to me as though it has no ability to resist the axial load on the chamber caused by the weight of the hose. This might be able to be resolved by attaching the hose to something, but I'm not sure what. Maybe a chest strap?

Axial Loading
My initial hunch runs along the same lines as yours, Wader. That is a general theme for these CPAP interfaces that rest against the nares or even insert into the nostrils. Eliminating that axial loading or "tugging in the wrong direction" is usually accomplished by rigidly fastening the nasal interface to the head/face or coupling a high degree of flexibility with low overall weight.
That thin headband doesn't look as if it will provide a very secure mount to the head/face. That swivel ball-and-socket joint at the plenum (just below the nasal pillows) coupled with a flexible hose seem to be the manufacturer's attempt to handle that axial loading issue. If the ball socket swivels very freely, the corrugated hose is very supple, and the overall weight is very light, then F&P may have pulled off a good design. Otherwise, axial loading or "tugging in the wrong direction" will be this device's demise in the market place----as with the Snapp and a few other nasal interfaces people have complained about. I also look forward to Titrator's review!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: it looks like a peace pipe you can hang around your neck!

Maybe we can all just leave it hang around our necks all day like reading glasses. No trouble picking out who's a hose head then.-SWS wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again: it looks like a peace pipe you can hang around your neck!

Yes, but I can't figure out where to put the peyote.-SWS wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again: it looks like a peace pipe you can hang around your neck!
Liam, who knows you can't have a peace pipe without peyote.
