Heated Humidifier quits

Post by DerekB » Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:22 pm

My HH quits in the middle of the night sometime and I wake up with a cold nose.

Anyone else?

You dont say what make it was.
PB humidifier died at birth and CPAP.com sent it back with a brand new replacement.

Depending on your equiptment, the power can wink off, and your XPAP can restart, but the HH can't. If that's the case, take that icecycle, from your nose and push the HH button with it. Jim

Derek,

Give us some more details - there are some of us who might be able to help (depending on what make model, & actual failure ciscumstances)

I have a Respironics Remstar Plus w/HH. It works initially when I turn it on but then I wake up with cold nose (the heater is off). The next night, same thing. I just started noticing this so I will keep closer watch on the operation of the heater. I didn't have the need for HH in the summer and was fine with passover humidification. But now I have started using the heater and just noticed this the last couple nights. I have plenty of water in the tank. I will let you know what happens. There isn't a timing feature on this is there?

Started CPAP April 20th, 2006. Have 1034 hrs on new unit. I just accepted the unit that my DME gave me. I am happy with it but since I found this forum (after April 20th) I wish I had received an APAP. I do wish I could get the stats for my nights sleep with the reader. I do have to say that I do sleep all night now and have very few nights that I do any tossing and turning. Now the cold nose, that will wake me up everytime.

I have been lurking for a while and find this forum a great source of real information by those that use the product. Invaluable.

Thanks for your help.

Derek

Derek,

These are some thoughts that come to mind, maybe helpful, maybe not ...

- The H/H can be turned off inadvertently if you stop the machine for any reason in the night (bathroom break) etc: Unless the H/H is specifically turned back on, it stays off once the machine is stopped for any reason.

- The h/h is controlled through a 'fibre optic' type connector that on the machine side shows as a small clear plastic circle underneath the machine at one of the back corners (back left I think). The H/H has a corresponding circular window opposite where the one on the base of the machine is. Just make sure this is clear & clean.

Other than the above, the Remstar's H/H is pretty well rock solid.

Good luck

Make sure the machine is setting in the correct location on the hh, so the signal works. If it's not something you are doing, it's under a two year warrenty. Jim

Worked fine last night. I guess there could have been a loss of power that could have shut off the HH but none of our clocks were flashing. I will continue to monitor the HH operation.

Thansk for your help!
