I called my DME today and explained that I had received the wrong machine at setup, but that the RT had assured me that the Smartcard module they added would give me all the data I needed (it is a Remstar Plus, so it does not. In my exhuberance to get started, not to mention the overload of information, I believed her. Well as soon as she left I posted here and was informed that I was right and the Smartcard on the Plus will just give compliance data) She had to put me on hold to talk to their tech who did agree and they are ordering the M Series Pro and will call me as soon as it is in. I also will be exchanging masks as the Flexifit 407 is killing the bridge of my nose. The DME asked me if she could ask a question. I told her sure. She wanted to know why I wanted all the data. They had never had a customer insist on one that would give all that data. I explained that I wanted to be in charge of my treatment. She asked how? I explained that by keeping data on my AHI, snores and leaks I would be better prepared to contact my doctor when needed. Also, I think I stay awake now because I am so afraid of leaks. The only way to tell if I have leaks now is to stay awake. Having data capability would give me piece of mind. I guess their customers are not very well informed? I can't imagine?! This is a lifelong treatment. I want to know all there is and have all the data I can get! Unfortunately due to either keeping my heated humidifier off last night ( trying to avoid rainout) or the colds going around my classroom ( I just got over 1 last week0 I am not sure I will be able to use the CPAP tonight. I do not have a full face mask yet and am having to do some mouth breathing. I will try, but it is not looking good!

Thanks for the update!
GRRRR! I hate educating people who should know about that with which they happen to work! This was probably some young HS graduate, so I am probably being too harsh because she WAS asking for the information. She will know in the future.
You have done your good deed for the xPAP community in your area today.
BTW, after having 6-8 sinus infections per year for YEARS of teaching--once I have not been going to school, I have not had ONE SINUS INFECTION! Hopefully, when you are ready, the retirement years will be cold-free (pretty much).

Be kinder than necessary; everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Re: DME update
You want to really freak her out.... tell her the reason you want the data is so you can adjust your pressure as necessary to obtain the lowest AHI.bairdbeth wrote:The DME asked me if she could ask a question. 10-1 odds they tell you you're "not allowed" to change your own pressure. That's always a fun conversation.
"Really? I'm not allowed to change my own pressure? You have to do that for me? That's odd. I'm allowed to change my own insulin dosage by myself and if I screwed up on that it could kill me. And you're telling me I can't adjust the pressure on my cpap?"
They'll try to tell you you can't. But, of course, you can.
You go girl!
