All set up and ready to go!

Post by bairdbeth » Fri Sep 29, 2006 1:57 pm

Rt just left. I ended up with the Remstar M Series Plus instead of Pro so I could get the CPAP now. She upgraded it with the Smartcard module and card. She was very thorough in her explanations and showed me everything. I took notes, but she also handed me a cheat sheet they give to all new clients. She brought 2 masks in for me to try, the Activa and F&P Flexi Fit 407. I really wanted the Activa, but the standard size was huge! the inner seal part touched my upper lip and the outer part covered my mouth. We tried several adjustments, but it was just too big. From a person who shops at Lane Bryant, I never thought a standard size would be too big The 407 was smaller and fit better. I am a little worried about leaks, but it was comfortable and is the newer version of what I used at my sleep study. My ramp starting pressure was set at 4, but I told her I almost had a panic attack at that pressure during the study so she set it at 7 which felt right to me when we tried it. I did lay on the bed all masked up. Felt foolish, but wanted to make sure everything was set right and the mask fit. If I have trouble with the mask, I have 2 weeks in which to call and they will switch it out. Also, the Rt said my machine is a rental (but brand new in box. I watched her open and unpackage it all) so my insurance will call before my rental period is up and if I don't like it, I can switch out at no fee. I am ready to start tonight and am thinking positive thoughts that all will go well.

Congrats, If you are planning to get the software to monitor your progress, they willhave to give you that Pro, as the Plus only has compliance data. Jim

I thought you wanted the pro model to read data?

Make them come back and give you the pro. Have them order it now and let you know when within 2 weeks it will be at your house.

After looking at the page of paperwork that we( me nor the RT) did not see, I will be calling Monday for the Pro. But for now I use this machine and start treatment. I hope to have a decent night tonight. That way if I have mask problems, I can switch out too, as I have 2 weeks to exchange.

I assume that page of paperwork was to do with data collection or lack thereof.

RT should know the capability of the machine she was bringing without having to find paper since I would assume she sets up lots every week. Wouldn't give me too much confidence in the RT and DME.

Hope the trade goes well!

Good luck.

RT, may not have known the capability of the machine, but I bet she knew the difference in the price. Jim
