I wonder what Apria's contract says......
Apria...
Tricare sent us to Apria for our machines. When it arrived, the respiratory tech
did not mention that they kept our smart cards, they forgot to mention they
also kept our Replacement rubber connector from the heated humidifier.
I am beginning to think all of us who get any equipment from Apria should sit down with the owner's manual and do a careful check to see what Apria kept.
Of course they will sell these things to you later, but my question for this August Group of intellectual giants is....what does our contracts say?
Do you think our insurance companies told Apria they can keep these items and got us a lower price? Or do you think our insurance companies simply said to supply us with the Respironics Auto BiPAPs and never thought about the insurance companies keeping part of the pieces???
My bet is that Apria contracted for the unit, then discovered most of us do not know what is in the package. I am going to ask Tricare about this.
Apria charges between three and four thousand dollars (one of their techs told me this. I have not noticed any prices on the paperwork I signed.
How about you?
This is NOT intended to be a bashing party on Apria. My guess is a lot of major companies do this. The websites I have dealt with do NOT do this.
They even give us the provider's manuals (often called the clinician's manuals).
IF Apria sells these units to Tricare for less money because they are keeping items out of the package, that is fair and honest. Does anyone know the facts on this type of sale?

Installing Software is like pushing a rope uphill.
I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed

Those are part of the boxed set-up as it comes from the manufacturer-they should be included in the set-up when it is delivered to you. I was minus the spare white filter in my set-up and insurance got charged for the "extra" filter that got mailed to me when I contacted the office. Ask for the smart card-I did get that without an extra charge. Let them know you know it is part of the package. I really think they keep the cards because they don't want people to bring in the card to be read-they didn't even have the reader or software.

I don't know how many filters people are supposed to get, I got several filters.
My wife got two packages of 2. I have no idea how many the ship. I also got 3 foam filters, she got two.
When we ordered my wife's Auto BiPAP, I told them I wanted to make sure her smart card was in it and it was. I didn't think about the filters.
I really want to see the contract with Apria.
I did not know these were rented, I went to the Respironics website and registered as the owner of two of Apria's machines. chuckle.....they may be in for a surprise if they had to return the machine.

While I don't have tricare, I actually did get the spare humidifier connector from Apria and a spare foam filter and a smart card.
What I do not like is I had to send in my smart card and got back a used one that I have no idea how used it is.
Another thing I do not like is that they weren't even going to mention the white fine filter until I asked them where it was and to put it in. Then they proceeded to install it backwards,

I got the extra humidifier connector and 1 spare foam filter. Was told that the white filters were useless and could cut down on the life of the machine. I fought for them and got them 2 months later(also purchased some from cpap.com). Never got my card back either. Was told I didn't need it(bought that at cpap.com too). Every month I have to call apria for my 2 new white filters, they will not send them automatically! It usually takes 2-3 calls to finally get apria to send them. FREE seems to be a word my apria doesn't know!

ALWAYS write your name on YOUR card in Ink. Hard to give it away then.
I don't send them in anymore, I print MyEncore and fax it to them.
I was going to make up some numbers and tell you how they had sent me ten smart cards because they felt guilty and how I had this and that....trying to out do Miss K. I give up. As we used to say in the Air Force...."First liar doesn't stand a chance......"
We sure have a great bunch of people here. We are very lucky. Some forums do not allow us to PM or EMAIL each other. You cannot even ask about it without being threatened with expulsion. In fact, I am permanently banned from that forum for asking a moderator to show a little compassion for man who is losing his family and home because of medical problems. For that I was banned for life. I thanked them. If asking for compassion is so sinful you are banned for life from the forum, it is not a place for me. Be happy we have this great forum and a super host like Johnny.
