I have had my new auto with encore and have noticed a few trends. The first concerns the ramping. WhenI had it activated my ahi went way up because the machine did not react to oa s in my first few hrs of sleep.. Once I turned it off the results were good. Second, I am unfortunately having better results with my old comfortful mask than my new ultra mirage due to excess leaks. I beleive its because the membrane is softer on the ultra. Another thing I see is the use of sleeping meds. I take amitypiline which my doc upped the dosage for better results. Looks like my ahi went up on that. Finally, my ahi is usually around 9 which is probably the best I can expect. My pressure range is 5.5-18.I believe my score during sleep test was 80. Any thots.
If your machine is a Respironics Remstar Auto w/Cflex, then your ramp problem is this. When in auto mode there is no ramp feature. If you set the ramp, it enables "Split Night Mode". When in auto you reall don't need ramp anyway, just set the bottom where it feels comfortable, and the machine will adjust accordingly.

What makes you say AHI of 9 is the best you can expect?

What does "Split Night Mode" do / mean?

I think 4 - 20 is the full range of the machine. Even the 5.5 to 19 seems like a really wide range to me. I'm running 7 to 14 and have AHI down to 4.8 (from 93) and others whos ranges I've seen posted are similarly ranged like min of at least 6 and then that plus 7 or 8 for max. Hopefully someone who knows more will chime in. I'm just figuring this out too.loonlvr wrote:My machine was set at the standard 4-20. Since i ve had it I don t think I have been below a 7 ahi. I suppose I could set the lower range up a bit to see if it lowers ahi. But I figured 5.5-19 was about right. It was at 16 but graph disappeared some nites on top end. Most nites i m over 10.
