I let my kids see the mask and told them what the machine was about. Turned it on so they can try it, without covering the mask to much. There concern was that the machine would hurt me, or that I am so sick I needed it. I told them I was not dying, it was to help me sleep better so I can play more with them. (snip)
It is so caring toward your children that you have been pro-active in teaching them about the mask. You may want to have some fun by blowing air on them or something similar. (You'll know your kids! If they'll play with your machine blowing air on the babysitter when you are gone, maybe not such a great idea.)

Just a thought:
October is Fire Prevention Month and the firemen often host tours of the firehouse or come to schools to speak. They always bring out their mask and O2 cannisters to show the kids. When they try to save children in burning houses, the kids often try to get away from the scary-looking firemen. The firemen explain that they look and sound like Darth Vader with the mask on, and O2 running.

Maybe you could take your kids to an open house, or talk to the firemen first and set up a time to take them. The firemen's masks are bigger and scarier; the firemen are often used to talking to children about this subject.

If your children are not too young, it might help.

That is exactly how I felt, and it is SLOWLY coming back. I tried to rush it last week, though, and that was a big mistake.
