Hybrid and moleskin?
Hybrid and moleskin?
I've seen moleskin mentioned here as an aid for sore spots developing from masks.
I've never seen the stuff ... would it be possible to put it on the edges of the nares to stop soreness from the Hybrid pillows?

I would suggest an application of a lanolin based cream before and after using any nasal pillow mask. This will help 'toughen up' the nares.
Others have mentioned Ky Gel, Chap-Stik, and the 'V' (as in petroleum jelly) word.
I use Bag Balm (mostly lanolin) and it works for udders. (Couldn't resist)

Krousseau uses bandaid blister strips. Seems to work well for her.

...I almost forgot..Don't put Moleskin on your face. Band Aids are much
safer..Moleskin is used to 'build up' certain spots of a mask to improve face contact, and the 'sticky' side is applied to the mask, not the face.

Lanolin?
I thought Lanolin was to make your skin softer.
We've got some stuff from Australia called Merino that is almost pure lanolin.
Really good stuff on dry skin. I'm going to try it.[/img]

Merino
Well, I believe they get it from sheep. So maybe that is where the name comes from.
Perhaps merino is Australian for sheep .. I dunno. I do know the stuff is really really really great for dry skin.
Whether or not it will sooth my nose I don't know yet. I can see it easing the discomfort, but don't know if it will make the skin tougher so the pillows don't bother me.
Hope so.

They get lanolin from sheep-ever washed the wool from a freshly shorn sheep? Since merino is a kind of sheep-maybe it is a brand of lanolin from merino sheep. Anyone for some Corriedale or Barbado?

Oops forgot-Lanolin replenishes the oils in the skin when the natural oils get depleted like on a nursing mothers nipples. Or sailors hands from salt water contact. It is one of the fats that can really get into the skin. The lanolin in this case functions as a lubricant to let the mask slide a bit over tender areas. So don't use it on large areas or your mask will slide too much.
The bandaid strips are called Bandaid Blister Ampoules-they have no gauze patch-just adhesive on a strip about 5 or 6 times thicker than a regular bandaid and made of a different material. It provides a little padding over any tender areas. I have used a similar product (in a larger size) on bedsores when I was nursing. Follow directions/warning on box.
