recent finding

Post by lmrwoody » Wed May 24, 2017 8:40 am

When I was first diagnosed as having sleep-apnea I weighed 250 pounds and had all the symptoms. My doctor told me to lose weight and go on a diet. So, I went on a no starch diet[ no bread, no potatoes, no rice and no pasta. I went to the gym and got on a treadmill for half an hour and burned 300 calories 3 times a week. After 2 months I now weigh 218 and feel like a new man. Sleeping much better, not so many dreams, not tired in the morning, no naps in the afternoon. I eat eggs and bacon and coffee in the morning, I do have a BLT at lunch even though it's bread and I have baked cod with vegetables at supper with jello and light whipped cream for desert. I do have trail mix for a snack. Try It!!!!

Soooo...when you were diagnosed were you prescribed a CPAP machine? Are you using it?

I hope you can get your sleep apnea treated soon, as your earlier post indicates some frustration.

I also lost weight during the intervening period (months) between being diagnosed with OSA and going onto CPAP.

Honestly, CPAP was the best thing that happened to me, health wise, and has helped me to keep the weight off, given me lots of energy too.

Best of luck with starting CPAP, and congratulations on your weight loss.

Please don't assume weight loss alone means you won't need Cpap - I understand 'feeling better', but it may not be the whole story and only a sleep study will tell you what's what. But good for you for what you're doing - terrific!
