Heated hose work with all masks?
Heated hose work with all masks?
I know my ComfortCurve has a special hose it comes with and I'm not sure it will be compatible with any other hose. I want to be sure before I fork over that much money. Maybe I should try a fleece hose cover first? Who is it that makes them here?
I looked at the CC details and it says the "special tubing" is lightweight to lessen pulling on the mask. The heated hose is certainly not light. It is a regular type hose (already heavier than yours) wound with coper wire to provide the heat. I would expect a problem. You might get away with putting a short swivel extension (18") on the heated hose and anchoring the HH to prevent pull.

imsotired, I'll bet where there's a will, there's a way.
I'd suggest you call cpap.com and ask to speak to Ted. He is a cpap user AND uses the Aussie heated hose himself. Maybe he knows of a connector piece that would allow switching the Comfort Curve's hose for a "regular" hose. The Aussie heated hose would qualify as a "regular" hose, although, as TerryB mentioned, it's a bit heavier than a plain hose.
Rigging a way to hold the main air hose up (whether it's a regular hose or the Aussie heated hose) should prevent pulling on the Comfort Curve mask. Would take more thought about how to rig it, since the CC doesn't lend itself well to routing the air hose back over the head and upward the way most masks do. But could be done...I'm thinking of the clever ceiling suspension methods that ctan and Bellcrest use.

Yes, I understand that. I have a ComfortCurve mask with its hose. The CC mask itself was too leaky and unusable for me, so I never bothered trying to "lab rat" a way to use a normal diameter hose with it. But I still bet there's a way to jury-rig it so that it will work with a regular hose (including the Aussie heated hose) instead of having to use its own proprietary hose.imsotired wrote:The CC actually has a special hose that clicks into the masks little hoses. Can't really explain what I mean other than they fit together unlike a regular hose that just slips over the end of the masks hose piece.

Imsotired, I was really surprised when I got my Comfort Curve that it couldn't be used with a regular hose. The first thing I did was put a fleece hose cover on it and that has worked well enough for me. I used to run the heated humidifier at "5" with the heated hose, but now run it at "4" with the Comfort Curve. I can tell there's just a little condensation in the hose in the morning, but it doesn't cause "rain-out" for me.
I recommend giving a hose cover a try. I'm just using a regular hose cover from CPAP.com. There's also a version of the Comfort Curve sold at CPAP.com which comes with a special made hose cover which also covers the two short pieces of hose connecting directly to the mask, but I don't know if that cover can be purchased separately from the mask. You might talk with CPAP.com and let us know what you find out.
Good luck.

I know there are many people on this forum who are big fans of the Aussie heated hose. I always advise people to try a hose cover first. Compared to a cover, the hose is much more expensive, heavier, bulkier, and requires another electrical outlet.
A cover solved my rainout problems in a room that gets down to 60 degrees fahrenheit (15.5 degrees Celsius). My humidifier setting is always near the maximum.
If the cover doesn't solve the problem, you can invest in a heated hose.

I e-mailed the manufacturer to ask questions. I'll pm you with info.
