Hi Everybody!
I've only been on CPAP 5 days, but am starting to have a recurring problem and was wondering if anyone had experience with this:
- After falling asleep and sleeping 1-2 hours, I suddenly wake-up when some pressurized air pops from my throat into my mouth. My lips stay closed, so sometimes I even awake with my cheeks puffed up (from the air "bubble").
I reset and go back to sleep and then it seems to happen over and over every few minutes (during that session of sleep). I've been getting fed-up and taking my mask off, then resuming CPAP later in the night (with, what seems, the same 1-2 hours undisturbed then repeated "bubbles").
In all fairness, it has only been 5 days...
Thanks a lot for ideas on this!!!

I got mouth bubbles early in my treatment, but it never woke me up. With time it got better. I learned to cough out the bubble instead of just opening my mouth--maybe I learned to do that in my sleep, too? I was using the Swift then, and that mask can really PUSH air out your mouth when you open it! I use the Activa now, and I don't get the windstorm so badly if I need to open my mouth.
If your problem doesn't improve in the next few days, I would suggest trying a different mask.
Just my opinion, take it or leave it! .

Your tongue is not keeping a good seal at the back of your mouth. There are many threads/post here on the problem that you can find using the search option. I use a chinstrap with one of my masks to help keep the seal-doesn't work for everyone-PM me if you can't find info & problem persists.....Kay
