Felt Like Almost Pre-APAP After 19 Months

Post by TXKajun » Thu Sep 14, 2006 8:02 am

The last couple of days, I have been extremely tired at work, to the point of dozing off a time or 2. It really felt like before I got my PB 420E set up and working well with my OSA. Yesterday, right after lunch-time, I was so sleepy that I decided to take the afternoon off and head home to sleep.

I slept yesterday and last night for almost 13 hours, using my APAP of course, and woke this morning feeling very rested and ready for the day. I hooked up my 420E to the computer and did a download with the Silverlining software, figuring that maybe my 420E was not giving me the pressures I needed and that it was set for. The data was for almost 2.5 months.

My average AHI for the 2.5 months was about 1.8 (low was 0.3 and high was 2.4) and my leak rate was way down in the acceptable range. One thing that I noticed was that my acoustical vibration level was around 68, which I thought was a bit high, but Sweetie hasn't been noticing any snoring on my part.

However the thing that really stuck out was that for the last week and a half or so, I've only been getting 6 or less hours of sleep, including last Friday night when I only got about 3 hours! Sheesh! I wasn't even aware that I was sleeping so little.

But I'm happy to say that today things are much better, even after one night of "catch-up" sleep. I remember pre-APAP that there were literally MONTHS when I felt like I did the last couple of days. Folks, this therapy really does work! And, like I said, it only took one night to catch up and start feeling better.

Without the software, though, I would have been left wondering. So when ya'll consider getting an XPAP, please consider purchasing software to go along with it!

Best of luck to all of ya'll!

Kajun

Great post, I agree 100%. The peace of mind generated by having a few tools to try and figure out WHY you suddenly feel tired again makes the investment very much worth it if you can pull it off. After you get your setup working and start to feel rested again you never want to go back to that awful bone weary tired feeling. Congrats on your success!
