10-Month Review, Very Positive
10-Month Review, Very Positive
I had a difficult start with the therapy in November of last year, but not untypical as I have learned from reading the posts on this forum: viewtopic.php?t=5639&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Near the end of December of last year, after getting the Encore Pro software and 2Factors card reader, I started doing my own sleep study. Wulfman suggested that I increase my pressure from 6 and see what happened. The charts I published viewtopic.php?t=6234&highlight= revealed that by increasing the pressure from 6 to only 9, a goodly reduction in AHI occurred.
I struggled with the pillow-type interfaces until March of this year when my DME left a used ComfortGel nasal mask for me to try. I liked it immediately. Quieter and more natural breathing, with the feeling of air moving around my nose. I subsequently got a large size CG from Sleepless on LI, and I've used it almost exclusively since. (Didn't work for her. Goes to show that there is not a consensus mask.) One day I'd like to try an Activa nasal mask, but I'm content with the ComfortGel, for now.
My therapy is going very well: AHI's less than 0.5, typically and the CG mask leaks very little. (Took a while to get the straps adjusted just right.) Last week's Encore Pro results are http://jerrylester.com/posting/Daily%20 ... 9-2006.pdf Click on the yellow balloons to see my comments.
Thanks to all that have contributed to my acclimation to CPAP. This forum has been a big help to me.

Hey, "Stranger"......nice to see you finally got off the golf course long enough to drop in and say "Hi".
In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear your therapy is still doing well.
Don't stay away so long!
Best wishes,
Den

Great report! It's nice to read those success stories. It inspires the rest of us. I want to know how you inserted the comments on your reports. Could you please share that with me? I have been using a small diary book I keep with information like mask changes and whatnot. It would be so much easier to be able to put that info right on the charts. Thanks for your help!

Nice to Hear From My CPAP Forum Family
Thanks to all of you for your responses.
Guest/Missy wanted to know how I inserted the comments on my Encore Pro PDF reports. You've got to have Adobe Acrobat Professional to save as a PDF document and to annotate with the comment balloons. PM me and I'll try to help.

I used to puff with nasal pillow interfaces, but not with the ComfortGel nasal mask.

I'm not taping. Once I tried it. But, I published an Encore Pro chart without taping and RG said, "Are you kidding? You don't need tape." Or, something like that.I have just started using that mask, used too. Mines a S.M.! liak rates 33 to 35 @ 11 to14 APAP, AHI a little higher, glad to see you are doing fine,Enjoy the Success! Jim

That is so interesting. One wouldn't think that would be so. I wonder what causes the difference? Any ideas?Jerry69 wrote:(snip)

You certainly have done well, and those of us who have do need to post our progress occasionally. It is very encouraging to the newbies. After 4+ months on CPAP, it is starting to feel like forever but...it really and truly is not. I guess my newbie status continues until 6 months? A year? Two years?
Now, that is a good question. Congratulations, Jerry 69, and good to meet you. Keep up the quality sleeping.

Dunno, Bird. Maybe because the air is not introduced so directly into the nasal passages?Jerry69 wrote:
