Hybrid Mask
Hybrid Mask
I just received the Hybrid Mask. I must say, I am very impressed. This is thinking outside the box (whatever that is).
Normally I use a Comfort Lite 2, but for those times when I have a cold or other obstruction, I have kept a full-face mask around. The Ultra Mirage always leaves the bridge of my nose very irritated, tends to cause my teeth to shift and in general is not very much fun to use.
The Hybrid has solved most of those issues for me and I strongly suggest that anyone who has had similar problems with full-face masks check it out.
That having been said, I have a question for anyone out there who might have some experience with the Hybrid. I received my mask fully assembled. The video on the accompanying CD indicates that the hose-swivel on the mask can be removed from the mask for cleaning. I have been unable so far to do this. Either it has been jammed on so hard that it won't easily come off, or the construction has changed and it is no longer removable. Can anyone comment on this?

dkeat - Have you been able to switich back to the CL2 after a few daysNormally I use a Comfort Lite 2,
on the Hybrid? Everytime I try to go back to the CL2, it feels like I can't get
enough air though it. Therefore, I've used only the Hybrid for 61 days in a
row.
+ Aussie heated hose.

My only comment would be...I wouldn't remove it!! I really think masks can be cleaned sufficiently well without taking them apart. Every time we take something apart we risk it not going back together as snugly and securely as the way it came from the manufacturer.dkeat wrote:The video on the accompanying CD indicates that the hose-swivel on the mask can be removed from the mask for cleaning. It's probably just jammed.
My advise would be to leave it jammed it serves no useful purpose.
I think it was meant as a quick disconnect if you had to get up in the night and didn't want to take the mask off.Only problem is it's a lot easier to just take the hose off.
I never take mine apart anymore.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!

Hybrid Mask
Thanks for the links and the various replies. As I said, normally I use the Comfort Lite 2. As long as I get enough air it the more comfortable interface.
I normally don't disassemble masks, but I did assume that the swivel attachement was supposed to make it easier to connect and disconnect the mask. I have used similar attachments in the past with the Mirage and they were appreciated.
I suppose I can do without it.
Some might be surprised how little maintenance I actually do with my CPAP set up. Some might be disgusted. I have been on the hose for over a year now and all my masks are still in working order. I haven't retired any equipment yet. It is certainly a truism that the less you take this stuff apart, the longer it is likely to last.

Re: Hybrid
I think here's why:sidesleeper wrote:Why do you feel a need to go bacl to a Comfortlite 2 after buying a Hybrid?
I would think you would use the Comfortlite 2 now only if you need a break from the Hybrid, not visa versa...Just my opinion
I find the ComfortLite 2 much more comfortable than using any full face mask. The only reason I keep a full face mask around at all is for the rare nights when I might have a cold, have a stuffy nose, and need a mask that allows for treatment while mouth breathing.dkeat wrote:normally I use the Comfort Lite 2. That's apparently why dkeat wants a FF mask stashed away too:
