autopap data

I received a copy of a report of two weeks of use of a Remstar Auto w/c-flex from the DME. My numbers from the part of the report called Sleep Therapy Long Term Trend are as follows:

Average Non-Responsive Apnea/Hypopnea Index 0.0
Average Obstructive Apnea Index 0.9
Average Hypopnea Index 1.0
Average AHI 1.9
Average Flow limitation Index 1.0
Snore Index 3.2
Average Max Leak 75.9
Average 90% Leak 33.5
Average Leak 31.4
Average Large Leak 0 minutes

The following numbers are from the Summary of Compliance page:

Auto CPAP Mean Pressure 7.3
Auto CPAP Peak average Pressure 8.5
Average Device Pressure<=90% of Time 8.0

The machine was set at 7-20. My lab titrated pressure was 8.

How do these numbers look? I am particularly interested in the average AHI and the leak numbers.

I would also like to know:
-what the snore index is and in what range should this number be in
-what is the flow limitation index and what range should this number be in

thanks.

Snore Index

Post by hopeful » Thu Feb 24, 2005 6:55 pm

In my sleep study, they rated my snoring and gave it a number as part of the index. (I think I was a 5 on a scale of 10, but I don't remember the details exactly).

You may want to refer back to the results of your sleep study to see if there is something similar.

Hope this helps --

AHI < 5 is considered good. From your mask leak I assume you are using a nasal interface? With a full face mask I run higher and it is still considered good... The more interesting report is the one that shows how long you spent at each pressure, it makes a good argument for getting an auto. I wish I had an AHI as low!!

If you are still out there, what mask are you using?

Your results look superior to mine. I'd be interested to know what your "nasal interface" (as they call masks in the research studies -- never call a spade a spade when you have an MD or PHD!) is...

thanks

Mikesus, I've been seriously thinking about buying myself a Large cushion for the Activa. Normally I wear the "shallow" - can even wear the "standard" ok. Maybe, just maybe, I might be able to wear the large over my mouth and still have it cover the tip of my nose. heheh.

As it is, if I want to, I can wear the "shallow" just over my mouth, and the blunter, wider top of the shallow cushion just happens to hit perfectly under my nostrils, to block any air flow out of both nostrils. Makes the "shallow" work either way for me - as it is supposed to be worn over the nose for nose breathing, or over my mouth as a mouth-breathing interface. (Sure beats the Oracle for comfortable mouth-breathing!)

Maybe a Large cushion Activa could be my very own "full face Activa" ahead of time! heheh.
