Changing from the Swift, any recommendations?

Post by Aaron » Tue Sep 05, 2006 6:38 pm

I have had trouble with the Swift. Actually, so has my father. I am considering getting either a Comfort Curve or Activa. Any Thoughts?

Thanks!
Aaron

Depends on your face structure whether the comfort curve will work for you or not. I found that mine was sitting on my cheekbones and I could never get it to sit properly. Never tried the Activa... dunno what that one's like

it depends alot on your facial structure i too couldn't use the comfort curve as it rested too high up on the cheek almost directly under the eyes. i use the breeze as i can sleep on my side, stomach or back.........never tried the activa........good luck.

I switched from the Swift to the Activa. It is much better (for me) at high pressures. Getting the right size can be a bit tricky. The fitting guide on cpap.com is notoriously unreliable for the Activa.

Many forum members report good results with the shallow size. Even tho the shallow is closer to the right length for me, I find that I do better with the standard. The very top of the opening is narrower on the standard, and since I have a very small nose bridge, I need the tighter fit at the top. (I always have trouble buying eyeglasses due to this small bridge, also.)

It takes a bit of fiddling to get the best seal, but after you have it figured out, the Activa gives a remarkably good seal, even for side-sleepers.

I switched from the Swift to the Aura/Everest several months ago. I find it much more comfortable than the Swift. I am not really answering your questions about the Activa or the Comfort Curve, but you might want to consider the Aura/Everest as another alternative.

Personally, I'd skip trying the Comfort Curve. There are some that get along with it fine, but many who didn't.

I'd give the ComfortLite 2 a try.

My own favorite is the one Jere mentioned: Aeiomed's "Headrest" (formerly named the "Aura")

For a mask that covers the nose, the Activa is definitely a good one. I just prefer nasal pillows interfaces.

Well, of course it is. That's why they call it a nasal pillow....

Swift

Well, I agree that, compared to the Activa, the Swift is MUCH more nosey. But interms of comfort, efficacy, lightness, non-intrusiveness, ease of use, and quietness, ITS DA BOMB!!!!!

Cheers!
