I'm wondering if there are any modern new CPAP machines that are comfortable for senior citizens.

Of course! If you look at the bottom of the front page where the birthdays are listed, you'll see that a very large percentage of us ARE "senior citizens".Micki wrote:I'm wondering if there are any modern new CPAP machines that are comfortable for senior citizens.
Another part of it depends on how the machines are configured and the mask the user selects. Not all masks are "comfortable" for every user.
Good luck.

Comfort is relatively, to be comfortable with something you must be flexible and open to change, with Sleep Apnea, you must ask yourself what your health and life is worth to you, and make treatment work. Seniors can be set in their ways, making change hard. You must embrace it, it's in your best interest. Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!

All of them are "comfortable". You need the right mask to make it comfortable.
You need to be more worried that you have a machine that has all the data necessary to give you and your doctor full information on how your therapy is going.

I don't know if I would call it comfort, but most people can adapt to having a mask on their face at night with a machine providing enough air pressure to keep their airways open. I started treatment about a month before my 73rd birthday. I started with what is considered to be high pressure and adapted rather easily to it. For me, it was just a matter of making up my mind that I would need to sleep with this machine for the rest of my life. It's just like treating any other medical condition. For some people, treating their sleep apnea has beneficial effects. I've actually had less asthma problems since I have using my machine and the irregular heart beat I had has cleared up.

Considering thin, fragile elderly skin, I suggest Pad a Cheek.com
Karen makes mask liners and strap covers that may help with your mask comfort.
Some of the newer machines are quieter than the older models, if noise is an issue.
What machine are you using now? What would you hope for in a new machine?
