Newbie needs info on RemStar Auto

Post by justbeth13 » Mon Sep 04, 2006 11:11 pm

I'm a newbie - about to lie down for my 5th night on my RemStar Auto w/ C-Flex. Why doesn't this machine tell me anything? All it tells me is the cumulative hours it's been on. I thought I'd get info about leaks and levels and apneic events and stuff like that.

Have been surfing this site and am trying to figure out if I have to buy the software and card reader - or can I get the machine to tell me on the little LED screen?

Any help is appreciated!

Beth

Sorry, but you do need the software and card reader to get that information. I have found it very helpful to know how I am really doing. I haven't changed anything yet -- am waiting to collect about 6 - 8 weeks worth of data before making any changes if needed. It may seem costly, but it sure beats sending the card to the DME who then forgets to send it back until you bug them 3 times!!

I just got the Auto M series and am loving it. The first night I had it after an F&P 30 day trial unit, I don't think I've ever had a better night's sleep. I'm dealing with some rainout issues but very happy otherwise.

I'm looking at the data on the LCD as well and figure that my average AHI level at 0.7/hr over 4 days means I'm doing very well. I think though unless you have the software, the best indicator of how you are doing is how you feel. I'm feeling much better, not drowsy during the day, lots of energy to do things, feeling healthier and look forward to my 1 hour walk after work everyday. This is something I've never felt before that I can remember so if you are feeling better, that's a good start.

Sounds like you're looking at the "patient" screen which has be set up so that some of the available information (AHI, leaks, etc.) is not being shown. You've got to change the options in the "clinical" set up menu.

Unplug the machine. Then, while holding down both the left and right arrow keys, plug the machine back in. After hearing two beeps you can release the arrow keys.

Once you click the setup menu button, you'll be able to enter the options which allow more detailed information to be displayed in the "patient" screens.

She shows she has the full size Remstar APAP in her profile, as Linda B. said that machine requires Encore Pro and reader to download the good data. Jim
