NEW TO THE CPAP

Post by FFPATEBOY » Mon Sep 04, 2006 9:52 pm

Im new to the CPAP world and this forum. I am 34 years old and have had trouble waking up in the mornings to go to work, school, etc. since childhood. Never heard an alarm clock, or would turn it off and go back to sleep. Morning headaches, grouchy, daytime sleepiness. Had a sleep study done and am now on CPAP for a week now. Feel better, still some sleepiness during the day. Seem to wake up a little easier in the mornings now. Want to know if it just keeps getting better the longer I use the machine? Also I am a Firefighter/Paramedic and work 24 hours on and 48 hours off. My part time as a Paramedic works the same hours so I find my self alot working 48 hours on and 24 hours off. Does anyone work similar shiftwork as this, and if so what problems have you had if you were up a few times a night for calls. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Sleep does get better as time goes on, but with a schedule like yours, you may very well experience times of fatigue. Hang in there!
