I need help with the comfort gel mask. If I tighten the mask it leaves a ring on the face and if I loosen it to where it is comfortable; if I turn on to the side I get leaks. LOOKING FOR A HAPPY MEDIUM!!!

mask problems
So was the man that walked into the fortune tellers tent. In CPAP heaven a happy medium is hard to find, most are too large or to small. You just have to find the one on your own, no two people can get the same result, that's why there are so many interfaces out there, you may have to even go to another type. Jim

One thing which makes leaks worse is moisture or face oils on the mask or face. The mask skirt should inflate and stop moving when it touches the face. Do you wash the mask each day and wash your face before going to bed? I use nasal pillows now, but started out on the Comfort select and had similar issues.

Re: mask problems
I don't want to discourage you from pursuing making this mask work....BUT, I have a scar on the bridge of my nose from wearing that particular mask.rjgreen3 wrote:I need help with the comfort gel mask. I tried everything, and the only thing that showed a little promise was to remove the forehead support gel, and hook up the head straps without it.
For me it helped a little but I was starting to get a skin infection and my nose was so sore, I just couldn't pursue it any further with that mask.
I took it back to the DME, bitched and complained, and they gave me a different mask. Whatever you do, don't give up. Somewhere there's a mask for you.
Wouldn't it be heaven if some how DMEs could give us a mask to try for a week or two, before buying them? Not sure how they could really do this, but what a help that would be to all of us. I thought my mask was pretty comfortable for the first 3 weeks and then started developing trouble. I've done this washing and all that, but it is not as comfortable or giving me as tight of a seal as it did when I first started. I got lucky, my RT gave me 2 extra masks free of charge, but one is a petite and too small and the swift I just used for the first time last night and still uncertain. If anyone had the perfect solution to how we could all end up with the mask that we love, they could make millions!!
