Leak and AHI in Opposite Directions

Post by MandoJohnny » Sat Sep 02, 2006 11:03 am

The efficacy data I get when I check my machine in the morning is always, "within limits," but I've noticed that usually my leak and AHI numbers go in opposite directions. So my leak numbers average about .28, with a low of about .2 and a high of .35. My AHI numbers average about 2.5., with a low of .5 and a high of about 3.8. But when one is below the average, the other will be above the average and vice versa. For instance this morning, leak was .35 and AHI was .5. Other mornings, leak might be .2, but AHI will be 3.8. Just curious: Why would they run in opposite directions?

Johnny,

This is just a "guess" (because occasionally I've noticed something similar with mine) but, maybe it's the extra air that the machine is putting out (trying to compensate for the leak) that is also keeping your airway open. In my case, that extra air feels good.
For some reason, mine got REAL leaky last night and I had a 0.7 AHI this morning in my stats.

Best wishes,

Den

I now have 12 continuous days of data and my Pressure, Leak Rate, and AHI all hava a positive correlation with each other ... if leak rate goes up -- so does AHI and pressure ... if leak rate goes down -- AHI and pressure also go down. I guess we are all different? ... or maybe with a longer period of data, relationships may change to more like yours?

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
