Rum and Quote. Ooopps!

Post by unclebob » Sat Feb 26, 2005 11:20 pm

Hi Posters,

Just going through my daily ritual - it's the weekend, so am also treating myself to a rum and diet Pepsi- while I read the many posts. This forum has given me considerable information and pointed me in the right direction to resolving a major health issue I have.

In reading the the various posts I realize that it's more than just the knowledge I am gaining. It is also hope and determination which stems from individuals sharing their personal experiences with expressions that come right from the heart.

For example, Snorenomore wrote on Thursday:

I guess for me it became a mind over matter thing. I knew it was good for me so I forced myself to do it. Don't get me wrong, I still not in love with the mask but I do see the benefit from it and do feel worse when I don't wear it.

Statements like this are a real source of inspiration and urge me to remain committed to my treatment.

So my thought is - why not have a separate ongoing thread that would capture these little gems for the newbies like myself as well as encourage those who have become disillusioned or skeptical. The Aministrator or the forum itself could select items to be included under an appropriate heading. Over time we would have a neat little tool to refer to whenever we feel kind of down.

So, what do you think?

Hi Bob,

Say, that rum and cola idea sure sounds great! Wish I had some handy!

I like your idea, especially the sentiments. They used to have a separate section of introductions, geared more towards newbies, to give them a chance to be noticed. Now, it's a little harder to point them out, with all the topics combined together. Not that hard, though. In some ways it is better to have the one continuous list of topics, to avoid some confusion.

I was a newbie in November, and so many people were not only informative, but encouraging and supportive just when I needed it most. Frankly, I still need that encouragement and support. I like responding to the new people, because I remember what it was like as a newbie, haven't forgotten because I still feel like a newbie. Seeing all the comments about problems with masks and treatment could be a little scary, even though I felt happy to have encountered such a helpful forum. It's nice knowing you're not alone.
