After years of becoming a very heavy snorer i was told i have OSA and was given a CPAP machine ( God bless the UK national health ) and the results were fantastic. Now back in bed after years of having to sleep well away from my wife who just could not sleep when i got going. The machine is set at 10 and although i find the mask uncomfortable and tricky to keep on when i move about at night everything seems to be going ok. What concerns me is that it may not be as effective as when i started with it a few months ago.Has anyone else found this to be the case? Don't get me wrong.its still a million times quieter than i was but i'm worried the effect will wear off!
it works but!
Not to worry.....if you have a cpap running at a fixed pressure, you may need to have that pressure adjusted a bit if something else changes (weight loss or gain, for example). Many factors affect sleep, physical and emotional. But the effect of cpap therapy does not 'wear off'. If you have an auto-cpap, the machine will adjust for your within a given range throughout the night. That would possibly provide more consistant therapy results over time.
Remember, everyone is different in their responses to therapy, and individuals vary from night to night; so some variance in results is to be expected.
If you find yourself feeling less well for more than just a day or so, it would be wise to think about any changes that may have occurred in youself, and to discuss with your doctor. Machines CAN be adjusted to fine tune therapy.
Good luck!

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.
