I have the escape model...and I can't find anywhere where there is an on/off button. I've looked in the manual and on the machine. Pain in the neck to have to plug it in and out every day. Also, when I send in my data card will it be able to show the DME if I had any leaks, if I kept my mouth closed or other important info or only if I was compliant?

There is no on/off just a Start/Stop. It doesn't need to be unplugged, just stopped is fine. I'm afraid that compliance is all the Escape is going to give you. The Elite and Vantage are the only ones with detailed data.

The older S7 models had a On/Off switch on the back of the machine. They did away with that on the S8 model you have. The top On/Off button is the only one the machine has.

You don't have to unplug it everyday, I would keep it on a surge protector. You could turn it off with that but not necessary.

Think if you check close that machine may even run for a few minutes after turning off to blow any moisture out of the machine.

I have the Vantage, so I am guessing here; but there IS no on/off button. The lights on the buttons are on all the time, glowing softly. The large LCD screen is backlit only when your first use the machine, or access the clinical or patient menus or efficacy information. It goes out after two minutes of no input. The machine comes alive (so to speak) then you press the large 'Start/Stop' button to begin therapy and shuts off when you press it again to stop therapy. Be aware that the machine does blow a very low volume of air for about 45 min after you press that button to end therapy before it shuts down completely (I believe this is to help clear out any residual moisture in the system/humidifier/hose/mask).

Perhaps another member of the forum who uses your same machine could fill you in better, but I believe that all the ResMed machines are set up this way.

As far as your other questions, the data on the card will show your leak rate, but not the origin of the leak. The machine will not record if the leak was from your mask or from your mouth, or a hole in the hose.....only that there was a lead of such and such a volume at such and such a time and for how long. Unplugging your machine will not erace the machine's memory (although that CAN be done from the Clinical Menu).

Good luck with your therapy!
