As usual, well thought out and very helpful!

I'm going to chime in here as well and AGREE completely. As a neuromuscular patient, on a vent, I feel like I've been in OP's shoes. It was just over four years ago that *I* was the OP (or at least in a very similar situation).

JNK has nailed it. Be polite, calm, but keep asking questions of your medical team, but also do research on your own. Take all of it and WITH the help and approval of your medical team, decide what settings work best for you.

A small victory for now, my primary care dr. got my RR15 changed back until I'm able to see the Pulmoligist again, and I used it for a nap with success, my o2 did drop when I was falling asleep but hubby said right after I fell asleep my o2 went back up to 94ish and that's better than I've been for awhile now. Things are clearly not dialed in yet but it is enough to keep me out of the er! I'm thankful for all the input here & Madalot gets a extra thanks for all her help and support.

This is good news. I'm glad that Breath Rate of 6 is working better for you and you got it changed. How did you sleep last night?

Since there are only a couple Trilogy users here and I seem to be the only one on the board regularly, I am happy to help you however I can. Just remember that I know the Trilogy and how it works for me, but you know your condition, your body and how you feel/sleep and you MUST include your medical team in all questions/decisions before changes are made to your therapy.

You keep asking questions and I'll answer them to the best of my knowledge and ability.

After I got it all sept and on it worked much better! I have other ambulatory issues that got in my way last night early on but after around 3:am I slept better than I have in a few months
Also wanted to say I would never make any changes without someone involved in my care team orders it first, that's a good way to get yourself in trouble when patients start playing dr to themselves, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't do my homework and know what my treatments should/could be, or what I could benefit from, I've got a lot to learn about all these settings, and I'm glad to have found this board to do that.

ps. I have major finger issues and typo's are just a fact in my life now, I try to correct them but some do slip by me

Excellent! We're all here and will give you as much help and input as we can. I'm very glad you got a better night sleep! I can't imagine trying to sleep with a RR of 15!!! OMG.....

And last night was even better, I used it from 12:ish to 5:am and slept well, even had some dreams and I don't remember those for awhile now if I can just stay awake long enough to do some reading here, I'm determined to learn each and every setting available to me and how I can benefit from it.

My wife has COPD and uses a bi-pap machine at night. She recently bought a oximeter watch with an audible alarm. She set the alarm @ 84 SpO2 and the alarm goes off 4-5 times an hour. She uses a full face mask and has the O2 set on 4 Liters.

If she takes the bi-pap machine off and just uses her nasal cannula and sets the O2 on her usual 3 Liters then she is able to sleep through the night with no alarms. The O2 level never drops below 84.

What causes a bi-pap machine to cut the oxygen off?

She has had the bi-pap tested by two separate companies and they say it is functioning properly. They gave advice to raise the ipap/epap to 24/19 and use 5 L of O2 but this does not seem to have any impact except to give her a tremendous headache. Levels continuously drop below 84 and down into the mid-70's

Any advice appreciated. Her pulmonologist suggested the 24/19 after a recent sleep study and offers no advice. Says she has a lung disease and learn to live with it.

well, I don't think I'd throw away the "silly" watch.

register, put some information in your profile, including what kind of oximeter it is, get sleepyhead and look at the data.

hopefully it's just a wrist mounted oximeter that records, and can then be imported into sleepyhead to see if a correlation can be seen.
