ResMed myAir VS Sleepyhead

Post by andycole » Mon Apr 11, 2016 12:00 pm

Last night myAir said I scored 98 but 6.7 events per hour and AHI was 1.7. Sleepyhead showed something completely different with AHI of 7.32 with 37Hypo's and 44UA's. I am worried that my sleep doctor is not going to get accurate info from the clinical side of ResMed. Going to print last nights Sleepyhead to take with me when I see him. It is extremely strange that I had AHI 0f 0.00 Friday night and 0.46 Saturday night according to SH. When I look selectively at AHI last night there were peaks at 31.0. I know that we sleep differently from day to day but is such a drastic difference not unusual?

MyAir 1, Sleepyhead 10 (in terms of usefulness).

I agree 100%, but I think the OPs real question is what does the doctor get? Does the doctor see the same nearly useless information, or does the ResMed product actually send the doctor much more, which it obviously could. I have no idea, and since I am self doctored, and financed, I do not know what the OPs doctor is really receiving. Nobody gets my data (except ResMed).

your doctor doesn't use myair, it's just a toy the toss out to the masses.

at least, your doc had better not be using myair. there is a clinical software that resmed makes available to physician/dme subscribers that sees actual data, not dumbed down 'scores'

I have the doctor's ResMed program and Sleephead is much better. They both display basically the same thing (data off the SD card), but Sleepyhead's graphics are a light years ahead of ResMed's product. Are you sure that ResMed machines do not transmit all data directly to the doctor? If it can send the MyAir stuff, it could easily send all the night's data.

resmed machines transmit data to Resmed, I've been told (by someone who claims to use that software) that they transmit detailed and summary data, but not high rate flow/pressure data.

So last night SH says AHI 4.57 with 15hypo's and 24UA's. Machine says AHI 1.6 with 4.5 events.

your machine's display varies depending on what time it's clock is set to,and what time you read it.

that may be part of the confusion.

If you are seeing a sleep doctor, they want to see the SD card and load the info into their computer program. If you are seeing a general practioner or someone OTHER than a sleep doctor, they may get their info from your DME, which of course, would be the same info that goes to MyAir. Call ahead and ask what the doctor uses. They just don't pull numbers out of the air.

Andy, that is quite a discrepancy between the machine readings and Sleepyhead. I have no idea the cause, but you may want to download ResScan, which is the ResMed program used by healthcare professionals, to see what it says. ResScan will be the program used by your doctor or DME to review your results. SleepyHead is much more user friendly, but many professionals discount it because it is not "official".

You can get ResScan by going here. You must register. Follow the instructions and a link will be sent by email.
