Tracy,

Your post makes absolutely no sense.

You didn't say which machine.

CPAP machine humidifiers don't "mist".......they warm the water which turns to VAPOR which is picked up as the air passes over the water to then travel up the hose to you.

Have you cleaned/replaced the intake air filters?
If they're plugged with dust and lint, they won't allow the air to flow through.

Have you checked for leaks?

Do you have water in the HH tank?

Mist would have to come from some kind of aerosol device, like a micro spray or an ultrasonic mister.
Cpaps are not made that way.
If your tank is caked with thin lime film, it might be soaked clean with white vinegar and water.
REMOVE IT FROM THE HUMIDIFIER FIRST!
If the crust is very thick, buying a new tank might be easier. Most run under $40 online.
