Switching from CPAP to APAP

Post by PhilBausk87 » Thu Mar 31, 2016 4:25 pm

Hey guys,

28 year old male who has had a CPAP for nearly five years but has gained 30 lbs since his sleep study. I am going to try switching to an APAP machine (doctor approved) and was wondering which machines were the best based on experience, in case insurance doesn't cover all or most of it.

Also, would it make sense that gaining 30 lbs could make my pressure settings different than five years ago?

Hope I can get some info!

Which machine have you been using?
If it's data-capable, have you been monitoring your therapy with software?

Lots of varying opinions on which machines are the best or the quietest. I think there are some threads discussing that very thing in the first or first two pages of the forum (currently).

Not with that one. It's not data-capable and essentially like the "Plus" model.

Be sure to get an "Auto" (Philips/Respironics) or an "Autoset" (ResMed).
The latest model lines from each manufacturer are the "DreamStation" and the "Airsense"

Do some homework on both of them before you get your doctor to write your Rx. Lots of discussions here on the forum lately about both.

There is free software......."Sleepyhead" that's compatible with those two lines plus several others.......available to download.
