I was told by my doctor that I should rent a CPAP machine, but the company he referred me to only sells them. I figure that if I rent I can get another one if it doesn't work well. Should I rent instead?
Also I have a question about face masks. At the titration test, I tried a Mirage Vista. It was less claustrophobic than the others because it doesn't have anything that goes over the upper face.
The problem is that I figure I need a full face mask. I normally breathe through my mouth while getting to sleep. My doc says I have small nasal passages and a deviated septum. That might explain this. The problem is that I'm told all full masks have pieces that go over the upper face. That's going to feel more claustrophobic to me. Are there masks that don't have pieces over the upper face?
By the way. This forum is fantastic!

Rental CPAP VS buying one
Hi People
I know that I rent a CPAP.....So far the CPAP have been serving me fairly well. I had a occasion when my CPAP started to mulfunction on me. It was shutting off when I had my mask on and it didn't give me the correct pressure I needed for my treament.
With rental I was able to return the broken machine and get another machine to rent whist they were repairing the broken machine. I like rental because if it mulfuctions I don't have spend any money getting the thing repaired!!
Buying a machine can be very costly and when breakdown it can be rather costly too! But it gives you a CPAP or "personal" machine for you and for your use only. But I aknowledge it can be very useful having your own , as you don't have to pay rental charges!!!

What is the cost of renting a cpap?
Are you able to just turn your machine in and try a different one when you like?
Is there a long term commitment or a rent to own type contract?
Anybody owned and rented? which do you think is better
Thanks

My insurance covers durable equipment, so I only pay 10%. Here's what my insurance company has done.wading thru the muck! wrote:What is the cost of renting a cpap?

They rent the equipment until they see that I have been compliant then buy the machine.
Second, I've never had to have a machine repaired, but they all have warranties. The durable equipment supplier SHOULD get you a new machine immediately and you get going again.
