Gtting ne machine

Post by chester@mccarterteam.com » Sun Mar 20, 2016 9:42 am

I am about to upgrade my older respironics M series bipap to a new machine. But its been 8 years and there is so much new stuff. I presently have pressures of 19i/10e. Was looking at the aircurve 10 asv but it looks like it will only change the range by 1-3 units when in use. I am thiniknid maybe the Aircurve ST or even the Respironics dream maker. The real point is the major diff in input and output pressures. Any one have experience in this area? I see my doctor tomorrow but am hoping to get in to see my DME provider prior to the doctor.

You don't need an ASV if you are currently being well treated with a Bipap. You need a Bilevel machine.

My biggest concern is getting a machine that is capable of bilevel support. All the resmed machines seem to say that they try force their breathing rythym on you as opposed to using the proscribed ipap epap levels. Since my levels are fairly far apart, I need a machine to support that. On top of it all I want to be able to use sleepyhead to monitor my progress. My most recent 30 day average AHI WAS 11 which I consider a bit high.

Then go for a PR machine

Sleepyhead handles all Resmed machines and PR machines. The Pr dream machine version is in beta testing.

all of what you seem to think you know about resmed bilevel machines is wrong.

and why are you looking at an Adaptive Servo Ventilator and not a normal bilevel?

All I know is what I read so my knowledge may be flawed. Thans why I am here to learn. I have been on Bipap for over 30 years, stating with one of the old Respironics boxes. Present levels are 18/10 (may not be exact). After 8 years with my Respironics M-Series, I am ready for a new machine. Just want to find the most usable, configurable machine that I can use to monitor my levels at nite, trying multiple masks to get the least leaks and best sleep. With an AHI of 11 average for my last month I am hoping one of the new machines may help.

Please correct me if I am wrong:

Looking at:

Aircurve 10 bilevel (either the Vauto or S model not sure of difference)
Dream Station Bipap Auto
PR System One RemStar 60 (know knothing of this machine)

I think all 3 above machines are compatible with Sleepyhead.

I use the Air Curve VAUTO in the auto mode. It varies the ipap pressure according to my needs within a set range (currently 18 to 25 cm H2O). I use a pressure support of 5. The machine can also be set to operate in S mode which is a single ipap and epap setting.
