Accidentally placed SD card in PC without locking the card

Post by Fresh_air » Sat Mar 19, 2016 6:50 pm

I have a new Resmed AirSense 10 AutoSet that I received two months ago. I have been monitoring my CPAP therapy with Sleepyhead. I normally lock the SD card, but today I absentmindedly placed the SD card into the computer without locking the card first. After loading the data, I realized my mistake. I placed the SD card back into the Resmed machine. The Resmed read the card and went back to the main menu screen, just as it normally does. I am running Windows 10 on my PC. Is locking the SD card no longer necessary for these new machines?

the air10 machines don't care.

I don't always remember to lock mine. Haven't had any issues as of yet.

it's only windows 8.1 (I think) and later, and macos that writes unwanted information on the sd card.

But for those not quite so lucky, here's a fix supplied by member remstarcpap. Worked for me on my Windows 10 and S9 combo.

I got this off the Web,

Best Answer: Locking an SD card or USB thumb drive will prevent data from being deleted or changed. It can also prevent you from adding files to the card. If the card is inserted in a device and you are unable to save files to the card, check to make sure it hasn't been accidentally locked.

Using the lock switch works well for most people most of the time.

But unfortunately there are some SD card readers that do not recognize the physical lock switch. And if the SD card reader that does not recognize the physical lock switch is in a computer running Mac OS X or Wind 8.1 or later, the operating system will be able to write to the card.

This is a problem that primarily affects a small group of S9 users on this forum. Solutions to the problem have been posted on the forum a number of times.

well, if you have a s9, don't lock your card, and use windows 10, then I don't know why yours isn't behaving normally.

is it an upgrade or fresh install?

Not a fan of Microsoft.
If they cared a tenth as much as the creators of Sleepyhead,
The world would be a happier place.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I run SleepyHead on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.9.5. I forgot to lock the SD once, and braced myself for major issues. To my surprise, the card worked fine. I did it another time, with no negative consequences, so I finally stopped worrying about it.

that's because the only machines that care are resmed s9 series.
