Help with data from Remstar auto M

Post by Backdoctor » Sun Aug 27, 2006 8:38 pm

my remstar auto m w/cflex shows that my average AHI for last 7 days has been 1.7 and pressure was 8.9. My old machine was set to 7.5.

Is that AHI a good number?

Fantastically good AHI! Anything <5 is considered to be normal. Things are working WELL for you.

Congratulations!

Under AHI of 5 is considered to be normal, but who wants to be normal we want it as low as we can get it.

You need to fill in your profile and what pressures range your APAP is set at, but the number is good, if you feel good thats better, but tweaking is allowed. Jim

Backdoctor - looks good, I have the same machine and my 30 day average AHI is 2.4. My sleep study only got me down to 5.9 and called that good - I've never been over 3.1 since day one on the auto m. So you might say the machine is doing the job almost twice as good, and I think it cares about twice as much also! Did your last machine give you an AHI readout? If so, how are your current readings compared to the old ones? Have you gained weight since you were titrated at 7.5? How long ago was your sleep study? I've learned from this forum that there are a number of factors that could account for the rise in pressure, that's one of the nicest things about having an apap - you can recheck your pressure at any time. My sleep study titrated me at 11.5 and my auto M zeroed in at 11.6, so as far as I'm concerned it appears to be a very reliable unit. As I have read time and time again on this forum though - bottom line, how does it make you feel? --- BT
