It almost sounds as though whatever soap/"wash up liquid" you're using might be attacking the mask material and causing rapid deterioration. This is just a guess as I have no experience with UK products............. other than gin and assorted beers. Baby wipes have a long track record as a good cleaning option for pap masks (and baby bottoms). Good luck.

baby wipes work for a LOT of people here... take that empirical data for what it's worth.

I did think that washing the mask in warm water with fairy washing up liquid everyday was a bit excessive. I would have thought once a week would have been adequate. A quick wipe round every mornin with a baby wipe should be ok I expect

Evening guys. Well this evening I cut out a mask shaped shape out of a nice old sold baby grow of my daughters. Last night the mask leaked so bad I only got 2 hours sleep with it. Just tried the mask on with the bit of cloth at full pressure for 5 minutes in all different positions and seems to have stopped any leaks. I'll try tonight when I go to bed and report back in the morning! I'm quietly confident it'll work.

Well with the mask liner I managed 8 hours and 40 minutes last night. Was really happy untill I got my sleep report this morning and it said I averaged 28.8 events an hour not happy!!

Now you have to look at the detailed report and what was happening. How was the leak rate? Did the events cluster at certain times? Was there a need for higher pressures?

Sometimes if we sleep deeper we have more events - REM sleep is notorious for this.

The report i got from my machine says that mask leak was minimal and gave a good score. I have looked into downloading this sleepy head but I only have an iPhone and an iPad and it says u need Windows to download it? Is there any way I can get more info from my machine?

The good news is you have your mask working and you are sleeping with it. That is a big plus.

I believe there is a simplified online thing available from RESMEd but that is not my area of expertise. You will be seeing your therapist this week anyway - they will be able to see your data in detail. The detail from last night will really help them dial in the pressure needs.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I use the website linked to my machine and that gives me info like how many hours I've done, and mask leak and events per hour etc etc. I'll try again tonight and see the results in the morning.

see if you can find a friend with a computer that can load up sleepyhead and you can look at your data in detail, because you need to figure out WHY your ahi is so much higher.

Good idea thanks I'll ask my friend tonight. Well last night I did 7.5 hours and mask leak was good, every other trading was good but events were 21.1 an hour phoned the sleep clinic this morning and they said I'm not getting enough air even though when I was on 10cm they turned it up to 12cm and it worked a treat for a couple of nights but then back to normal. They've now turned it up to 14cm. I'm having major trouble stopping leaks at 12cm! I'll ask my mate for help with computer this evening

If they need to push the pressure higher then you should ask for a BIPAP .

It will be interesting to see all the graphs to see the kind of events and how they are clustered.
