Does anyone here know if there has been any study on Apnea causing Alopecia in women?
I am fairly new to this group and have just started CPAP in late June. I also have Alopecia and It seems to me that my hair is starting to grow back since using my cpap. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part that CPAP will be the answer to all my problems.
I was just wondering if this is another symptom that doctors have missed in the past.

Is there any connection between Apnea & Alopecia in Wome
I went for many years with osa undiagnosed and misdiagnosed. During this time I developed mild, but annoying, cases of alopecia areata, vitiligo and lichen planus. All three of these are autoimmune disorders affecting the skin or hair.
You can find on the web that there is some strong evidence that psoriasis and apnea may have a connection. Psoriasis is also an autoimmune disorder affecting the skin.
So it would not surprise me if the medical field eventually confirms that apnea has a causative effect on alopecia.
I would love to hear from you as your therapy progresses. Unless time proves otherwise I will hold hope that cpap will improve my skin conditions.

BTW, I am a male.
