Encore Pro and which brands work with it?

Post by dllfo » Thu Aug 24, 2006 6:45 pm

Our daughter is scheduling a sleep study, so she may need a machine.

Since I already have the Encore Pro...which companies make CPAP machines that work with the smart card and encore pro? We know Respironics does.

Also, when I called Apria, they said we now have CPAPs with C Flex, Bi Flex and other things...so of the new generation of CPAPs, that use a smart card, what are the best machines??

Suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Dave

I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

Respironics is the only brand that uses Encore Pro, ... Because, it's their product. You have to use their machines, with the software, and choose the machines that support it's use, and use the version that works with that version of their machine. Jim

The Respironics Remstars work with Encore Pro. However, if you purchase one of the newer M Series models, you'll have to buy (unless you already have it) version 1.6.

I have 1.6....but not sure what the differences are between the Remstar M Series Auto C-Flex and the Remstar Auto C-Flex. I thought I read somewhere they have a CPAP with Bi-Flex. I will keep looking.

It appears it will be one of these two? Both are probably good units. I think they sell for about the same amounts.

And the main differences are??

I don't own the Mseries, just the Remstar Auto, but I believe I have heard people that bought the Mseries say its slightly more compact and a little more "travel" friendly. Also I believe on the Mseries the humidifier is slightly different in how you fill it. Why don't you check the exact specifics of the machine on this forum's product website https://www.cpap.com. Under Auto's it should list both. I believe the Mseries being newer might be more expensive. Type in under search function "Mseries + Noise" as I believe I have come accross threads recently that some people have commented the Mseries might be slightly noisier.

Thanks Susie, she hates noise. She is like here mom there. Great hearing.
The quieter the better. Another reason I like the Auto BiPAP they got me. It is very quiet.

I don't know how much influence we customers get in picking the machines, but since I already have the software, I would hope they would listen to me. Wish me luck and thanks again. Noisy machine is not something I would have thought of.

There is a thread from yesterday regarding whether there truly is more "noise" or not. It seems some people that have the M series do NOT find it noisier. I think one of the members yesterday writing that the pitch is just slightly different.

I love my Remstar Auto. I have no desire to try a NEW and improved model until it has been around long enough and proven not to have any bugs or "glitches" with it. My motto along with countless others, "if it aint broken, don't fix it"

I like the RemStar Auto as is. I travel with it just fine. I used ear plugs in the very beginning. I'm not what I would consider a light sleeper, traffic on the busy street I live on doesn't wake me up, but getting used to the sound of the cpap machine was just something I wasn't used to hearing. After the first two weeks, I didn't even need earplugs any longer.

Good Luck with your daughter's study.
Suzy
