A year ago last December I started wearing regular headphones that had noise canceling. They're lightweight and don't really bother me when I sleep. They're also great for travel.

I have select soundtracks that I play, which last up to about 35 to 40 minutes and then the headphones are silent the rest of the night with noise cancellation turned on.

Since they are connected to my smartphone I can play whatever kind of music or sound machine I want, And I choose whatever types of sounds I need to sleep at night.

It helps a lot when my mind is really active and helps me sleep faster.

You just have to find whatever works for you and adapt as necessary.

Krelvin, What kind of headphones? I haven't found any that are comfortable for side sleeping, including ear buds. Money no object!

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I personally like the babbling brook sound. You can use it for awhile and eventually lower the volume until you don't need to 'mask' the noise from the mask/machine any more. Worth a shot for twenty bucks.

Exactly what I use, love the different noises, and sound real...don't leave home without it...

I take out my hearing aid; and sleep on my good ear.
-----"What noise?"

That's what my wife does, she just takes out her hearing aids (both ears). When I ask her if the barking dog next door disturbed her she always sez "What barking dog?" I hate to be jealous of somebody's infirmity, but it's hard in this case.

I have no idea how you sleep without a fan going. I've gotten so used to having white noise that I can't go without it.

Yeah, it's cold right now. But I just point the fan away from the bed.

Or you could spend $20 on Amazon for a white noise machine.

Use the Flex, Luke. Let go. Luke, Trust me.

I'm convinced that PRS1 machines send noise down the hose, and many people hear the noise coming in through their nose, and conducted through their head into their inner ear.

Unfortunately, that doesn't give me a good solution, but it does explain why the noise behaves in strange ways and earplugs may not help.
