As did I but I just don't buy it.
My OSA is worse in REM sleep (like 5 times as worse) and we have more REM in those wee hours of the morning.
Now there may be some sort of "hold over" effect for some people in some situations but I used my machine every night for well over 3 years and had to do without one night (traveled and forgot long hose) and the night was horrible and I was back to doing everything I was doing before I ever started cpap...waking up often, had to pee about 4 times in 5 hours and woke up with a raging headache and felt like crap the next day.
There was no "hold over" effect at all for me.

My personal opinion about the idea of 4 hours being enough and more hours is a waste is that it is BS.
Logic and common sense tells me something else.
Yeah, it's better than no hours but that's it...IMHO.

There are other things that can cause tiredness. The brain arousals (small periods of time your brain shows awake activity) can be caused by other means than just apnea. Do you by chance have any problems with movements of your arms and/or legs during sleep. Periodic limb movements can cause tiredness.
