First full night with mask on.
I finally went all night with my mask on however I didn't get a full nights sleep. Like usual I fell asleep just fine however its as if I've become a light sleeper. Gently shifting sleep positions so I don't take my mask off, or even fully waking up to take my mask off. I only took it off for a few minutes, repositioned the mask, and layed back down and slept lightly again. My nose is a little sore and I still feel sleepy, I hope I can get another sleep study again and try a full nose cover instead of these nasal pillows.

Why would you get another sleep study? Just try another mask.
Do you have a data capable machine? If so down load sleepyhead and check out how you are really sleeping.

I agree with BS....why go through another sleep study? Go to your DME and try on as many masks as you like. Often DMEs will allow free exchange within 30 days.metallicstar wrote:I finally went all night with my mask on however I didn't get a full nights sleep. You don't need another sleep study. If you can't afford a new mask there may be someone that will send you one they are not using for a few bucks. If you have insurance go to a DME and try on masks.

Re: First full night with mask on.
Resmed makes a full nose cover that uses the same headgear you are using now.
It's called The Swift FX Nano. You just need to order the nose piece and short tube. https://www.cpap.com has it. They call it "Swift FX Nano nasal mask assembly kit".
When I first started, I was given the Swift FX with pillows. Those bothered my nose, but the headgear was fine. So, I was able to switch to the Swift FX Nano for Her and love it. The "for her" is the female version sized for ladies.

Re: First full night with mask on.
The machine I had was when we were living in Alaska 4years ago. When I had moved home and called a store that sells masks they told me I had to get another prescription since it was from an out of state doctor and with that get another study. If I could order just a mask that would save a lot of trouble.
Re: First full night with mask on.
If you have your prescription, call CPAP.com the sponsors of this site. You can get a mask for less than a new sleep study usually. But most insurances don't cover online purchases. Check with your insurance and how much you will have to pay for your sleep study and mask. Then determine which would cost less. Also you can buy masks parts at Ebay and Amazon to build a mask, and sometimes Amazon has complete masks for sale. So there are other options that take a little detective work.
Usually insurance won't cover a new machine until yours is over 5 years old, so when you talk with them ask if a new machine would be covered.

Re: First full night with mask on.
Are you wanting your insurance to do their part in payment for a new mask or are you willing to just buy it yourself totally out of pocket?
You have some options depending on your answer to the question above.
There are ways to get a mask without a RX or if your RX is still good it doesn't matter if the doctor is out of state if you want to order online from some place like cpap.com. They take out of state (and out of the country) RX all the time.
They also have several masks with free return insurance or low cost purchase return insurance so if you hate the mask you have 30 days to return it and get your money back.
You can also build your own mask by buying the replacement parts individually without RX because replacement parts do not require a RX.
