Re: Struggling new Cpap user
I wanted to update those of you that responded to my posts last week. I contacted the RT at my DME. I went in and was fitted with an Airfit F10 full face mask. While the mask felt bulky and left marks on my face, I could breathe with it on, without the problem stuffiness and feeling of suffocation. I have used it for about 6 days now and my sleep and therapy time have increased. My leak numbers have increased, but are still respectable. AHI has varied, but is usually <5. The RT told me that according to my in center sleep titration, 9 was my magic number. I reset my machine to cpap with a pressure of 9 (as was originally ordered) and have left it there. That seems to be working fine for the past week that I've had the mask. I have also been able to increase my humidity to 6 without it being too oppressive. So I guess the full face mask is what I NEEDED, although not what I really wanted. The one thing that I'm wondering about is what will happen when I have a cold or nasal congestion requiring me to breathe through my mouth. It seems that whenever I open my mouth, it changes the way the mask is sealed on my face and causes it to leak. So, I'm working on adjusting to the full face mask and dealing with the issues of comfort, sleep position, and facial marks in order to get some sleep and have my SA treated. Thanks to everyone who chimed in with advice and assistance. I'll keep you posted and I'll follow the boards for tips and who knows, maybe I'll be able to help someone else out.

I posted this today: viewtopic/t108525/Dreamwear-Mask-and-New-Users.html
I had similar issues and was able to address them. Setting your machine up in a similar fashion and maybe trying the Dreamwear mask could be the answer to your problems...

How much more bizarre can the pharmaceutical commercials get?
