Even though I had a sleep study in a lab two and a half years ago, she said there is nothing to lose and more to gain by having another one. I'd like to get to the bottom of this myself. Looking forward to seeing the data. Thank you both for your responses.
Lucy,
What are your settings? If you don't already use Sleepyhead software, I'd strongly urge you to get it and see for yourself what's going on. There may be plenty of clues there.

As I started to type this I noticed a blue thing where my machine is shown on here. Wrong machine! I'll correct it as soon as I type this. I obviously hit the wrong thing though I was sure it was the right one. My machine is a Vpap Auto. Settings if I remember correctly are 7/11. I probably will install Sleepyhead but at this point I'll wait until after the sleep study next week. I check the little screen every few weeks and ahi is okay and the little man is smiling. Could be his smile is just glued on there? Thanks again.
Honestly, i believe your daily data from your machine is going to help you a lot more than a sleep study, especially a home sleep study. You can see patterns. You don't have extra equipment bothering you, and you can adjust settings and see how the new settings work (both in terms of data and how you feel). There are lots of changes we could advise.
You mentioned that your doctor goes over your data with you twice a year, but it sounds like you only discussed ahi and leaks. What about the types of events, how long they are, if they are clustered or not. What about your pressure? Is it going up and down a lot? There are so many things that doctors do NOT care about, that make a huge difference in how we feel. If your doctor doesn't check those things (and clearly he doesn't since he could look at them right now if he wanted to), why would a sleep study be any better? He is only going to look at ahi and leaks.
Let us help you. Get the data and post it. Also, once you know what is going on with your treatment, YOU will have control and be able to make adjustments as needed.
Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
