Is your house really cold/AC on right now that it will condense the moisture. Not me but someone using a nasal mask found moisture with the room at 72F at night, 74F night and cooling to 72F early morning. No water humidifier in place. -- Under same temperatures with my Hybrid, I find the skin around my mouth warm, no issues with my nose, but no moisture in the mask, no heated hose. No humidifier set up. Both machines on floor.R1200ST wrote:First Night done. Couple issues:
1. Had to set humidity at 0. Woke up with face full of moisture. Hose and equipment was set below my bed level. Then woke up with dry mouth. Sigh....
2. Woke up when pressure ramped up pretty high (didn't check to see what it was) with the mask leaking like crazy. It was blowing out everywhere. So I tightened the mask on the face and....
3. Woke up about 2 am with a killer pain in my nose from the mask (deviated septum, broken nose issue) so I will have to get some type of nose pillow
But I did fall asleep, which I would have bet money that was impossible. So knowing that, it is just time to keep adjusting things until I get it right.
I am really mostly concerned with getting the humidity level right. Anyone use the SYSTEM ONE humidification settings instead of the 1,2,3 manual setting?
There was a comment above about cold air versus moisture. To me when I pulled the mask off, there was condensation in the nose cup and in the cheek area of the mask to the point that I used a tissue to wipe it out. So I THINK it is condensation / humidity.
Do you have a heated hose not sure if the System one has a heated hose and if yes, if the hose will heat up when the setting for the humidifier is at zero.
I know this is stating the obvious, but will say it anyway, your dry mouth is from mouth breathing. I do not know if many mouth breathers ever get rid of dry mouth from the humidifier.
I am assuming you had water in the humidifier chamber. That is what Passover Humidifiers are, the larger surface area of water the more humidity.
I know you mentioned a broken nose and deviated septum, but I do not know if you have a total blockage. I have a deviated septum as well, with allergies both sides got congested because one smaller and the other compensated, or that is what the Dr had said. The good thing about cpap is that there are filters for the air.
During the day can you breath through your nose? If Yes and
Has your ENT told you not to use direct CPAP pillows to your nose? if No
I would suggest either taping your mouth shut or using a chin strap to see if that prevents the dry mouth.
I know it is not recommended, but I had better results with no humidifier and a heated hose when I first started therapy. The humidifier congested my nose. I used the hose because the air in the winter was to cold . Now I use the regular hose not even covered, but the house is a bit warmer then it used to be way back when. I remember using moisture sprays initially for my nose to prevent dryness. I do nothing special now.
I used to cover my hose as well. I think her name was Pad a cheek (corrected name, saw it on forum and remembered) from this board that I gotten a light blue fleece cover for the hose. Nice in the winter in a cold room, because touching the hose to my skin would jar me awake.
