PR System 1 Loud Motor in the middle of night

Post by IrisofNY » Mon Sep 28, 2015 9:09 am

I've been using CPAP since January. Masked up and went to bed at 11:45pm last night. At 4am, the motor of the machine was unusually loud and woke my husband and me up from deep sleeps. When restarting CPAP a few minutes later, it was still very loud. Gave it a rest and it sound resumed to normal about 30 minutes later. I checked the screen on the machine and the hours from 11:45 to 4am weren't even counted, as though the machine wasn't being used then.
Any suggestion or ideas?

Noisy machines have been discussed many times here. The time gap is unusual tho, maybe somebody has experienced that problem and will join in. In the search engine above type in these phrases:

Respironics S1 loud noise

PR System One noise

and variations and so forth, you get the picture. I didn't get many hits for 'gap in recording'. Maybe time to call your DME or cpap provider and ask some questions.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I am just going through the same problem. I called my DME told her about my noisy machine and she checked with P Respironics and they are sending me a new machine under warranty. Just do the same thing, call your DME and explain the situation, if your machine is still under warranty they will swap it out.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Your profile shows that you're using Sleepyhead software. See anything in the reports which could give a clue? Leaks? Pressure changes?

Update: It is definitely the machine. Noisy again last night but not as bad as the night before. The info on the machine is off - different from the sleepyhead report the last 2 nights. I called the respiratory therapist yesterday who told me she could swap out for a new machine after I spoke to DME customer service. Called them yesterday and waiting to get a call back. Thanks for replies
to my post.
