This is a First....Bad Dream Results in Mess

Post by Madalot » Mon Sep 28, 2015 7:53 am

I've been on the Trilogy 5.5 years and have had the humidifier for probably 4.5 of those years. Until last night, I've never had any serious issues.

Our power went out about 10:50pm. I continued using the Trilogy but the humidifier was in passover mode. About 2:30, I had some kind of dream where I was about to be hit and I put my arm to block the blow, but did it IRL and the hose was on top of my arm. Well, I swung so hard that I totally disconnect the hose and valve/connector from my mask AND flipped the entire humidifier up and over the edge of the dish I keep it in and it POURED water out the hose onto the bed, my sheets and then dumped it all over the floor. Because we had no power, I couldn't see exactly what had happened or what I had done. I reached for the flashlight and stepped in an s***load of water. I mean, it was a MESS. Once I figured it out, I obviously turned the humidifier right side up, grabbed the hose and hung it so the rest of the water could drain. I had to get up and get a towel because my bedroom carpet is SOAKED.

Maybe I'd be better off NOT using the Trilogy during power outages (2nd one in 24 hours we've had by the way).

Don't know whether to laugh (first instinct - imagining the whole thing) or cry for your mess!

But maybe your long suffering husband can find a way to secure things even better than they are now if it's possible (still leaving you in one piece). Does your power go out that often?

I hear you, Julie. I can ALMOST laugh about it now, but for the fact my carpet is soaking wet.

Sadly, our power goes out pretty often. Right now, we're getting tons of rain. While we need it, it's saturating the ground and trees are coming down. Sunday morning, a tree came down next door and took the lines down across our road. That took them about 3 hours to repair.

Last night, a big tree came down across a major highway, taking ALL the lines down with it. That took them almost 11 hours to repair.

If we ever win the lottery, we will have a whole house generator put in. Right now, we just can't afford it.

We have a couple portable generators, but we don't bother getting them out, running extension cords and such unless we are sure the power is going to be out 24 hours or more. As long as we keep the refrigerators & freezers closed, they will keep everything at least 24 hours.

LOL -- and I remember the dream I was having. I won't bore with the details, but I was about to be hit HARD in the face and I instinctively (obviously IRL) tried to block it!!

Ugh. Talk about rude awakenings! Sorry you had to deal with this mess, but thanks for the reminder that I've been saying for years I really should secure my machine.

The Trilogy is large and I doubt I could move it (and didn't). My humidifier is a stand-alone and sits closer to the bed. A short hose goes from the Trilogy to one port on the humidifier, then the 6' hose hooks to the other humidifier port and onto the mask. That's the hose I flipped so hard and it pulled the humidifier out of the dish and dumped ALL of the water out through the hose.

But you're right. People with regular machines doing what I did -- that could be really bad.
