I just got a new cpap machine today - a REMstar SE with a heated humidifier attached.
Reading the manual, I still can't figure out how to turn off the humidifier. I am going on a trip and don't want to bother with the humidifier.
The humidifier manual says not to run the machine without water in the tank and also to look in the cpap manual to find how to turn the humidifier off. Going in circles here. I would like to detach the humidifier and leave it home, but the side plate that must be in place when the humidifier is detached was not included! Frustrating.
I called Americare (supplier of the equipment) about the problem and was told a tech will call me right back. That was 3 hours ago. So hoping someone here can help.

Re: New Cpap with humidifier
I don't know anything about detaching the humidifier, but, your DME gave you a very low end machine.

What number is on the bottom of your blower unit? Make sure and take off the humidifier before you turn it over so you don't get water in the machine. With my 760 I use the blower without the humidifier when I travel without the side plate because the heated hose will fit the connections that way and I don't have to change hoses. It doesn't work as a heated hose but I only have to pack one hose. I believe the side plate is mostly decorative. If you use the side plate you have to use a regular hose.

I was told I would be getting a Resmed airsense 10. But Americare accepts what my insurance pays so no out of pocket cost to me.LSAT wrote:I don't know anything about detaching the humidifier, but, your DME gave you a very low end machine.

There are a dozen numbers on the bottom! It says REMstar SE, DOM plus the serial number, power supply numbers, etc.OkyDoky wrote:What number is on the bottom of your blower unit? Thanks for the information about using the blower without the side plate; that's what I will do.

Does it say model or ref#? This link might help you identify it. https://sleep.tnet.com/cmd
What I'm afraid of is that it is a 220 number and anything less than 4XX number is not data capable. We stress data capable machines because they can help you identify and fix problems if you have them. Such as what type of events you are having (obstructive, hypopneic, or central), leak rates, and wave forms that might identify the problem.
If it is, what we call a brick, I would try and return it to get a data capable machine.
What did your sleep study report and what are your pressures?

Pressure is 10 and yes, it is data capable. I am leaving tomorrow on extended vacation and I still need to pack! Thanks for your interest and help. I'll be back.OkyDoky wrote:Does it say model or ref#? This link might help you identify it. https://sleep.tnet.com/cmd
