RE and VS

Post by alpha752 » Fri Sep 18, 2015 3:43 pm

I am seeing a lot of Respiratory Effort and Vibratory Snore in my sleepyhead report. My AHI is low, under 1.5 most nights, but I see a lot of these flags. Is this an issue? Should I adjust my pressure? I'm on 14.

Could you please define "alot" (or a lot)?

What are your indexes in those categories?

Are you doing nasal cleansing before bedtime?
VS events can be "sound effects", or even something rubbing against the hose ribs.

They're both between 3-5.

I don't do any nasal cleansing, but I do wear a FFM with a chin strap.

I have a hose cover on, I don't know if that would help or hurt though.

Well, when I started therapy, my VS numbers were in the "hundreds". Over time, it has dropped significantly and continuously. Some by continually using "passover" (cool) humidification, using nasal cleansing before bedtime (or occasionally during the day, too) and by bumping the pressure up one to two centimeters.
In the last six years or so, my average VS numbers have been at or below 0.5.

In my opinion, both of those indexes are somewhat linked to nasal congestion in varying degrees.

Doubt if the hose cover has any effect.

In my case, a recorded VS is just a face fart. Could your mask be leaking at all?

Yes it's possible my mask is leaking as I tend to move around at night.

Would increasing my pressure help with the REs at all?

There was a saying on the forum years ago that I've remembered and repeat now and then.......

"If you make a change and the results get better, you know you're going in the right direction."

Only you will know after you do the tweaking and experimenting. It's that simple. It's YOUR therapy.
