Tomorrow we go to get the hubby's bipap. I wanted to know what questions i should ask that I may not have thought of. Any advice?

If this is his first machine, then you'll need mask fitting assistance with him connected and at pressure (highest prescribed) and lying down. It is best if they have several to choose from and to try at this time.

Newer machine can come with heated hoses so inquire if that is included. If not, get the doctor to re-write the scrip to include a heated humidifier and heated hose.

If you haven't yet obtained copies, get copies of your sleep study/sleep titration study for your own records.

Get a copy of the prescription for the machine and make sure the part about the mask has language similar to "mask of patient choice."

Get the policy about mask exchanges as it is common that the first mask doesn't work well and may be replaced. What is important is how many exchanges are allowed and for how long a period. Manufacturers routinely allow for the exchange of a mask and credit the DME so there is little cost to them to do the exchanges but some don't want to bother.
