Not sleeping as well with a cpap. wondering of others exper

Post by dorlow » Tue Aug 18, 2015 7:46 pm

So, I am not someone that was forced into cpap. Years ago, I was told I need a cpap. Then I was defiant and hated the idea of having one. Afterwords, ovee the next 5 years, I've talked to many people that use and think they're the greatest thing and couldn't imagine living without it. I know I have sleep apnea and am always tired so I went to the doctor and asked him to schedule me for a sleep study hoping they would prescribe me kne so hopefully I could sleep better and be more awake during the day.

I've now been using it at home for two months. The sleep study showed before that I woke up manh times an hour but with it, I wake about every two hours.

I see the numbers, but I'm not any more awake during the day. About as tired as I ever been. I also wear a fitbit. I watch my restless sleep with that also. Before and after according to my fitbit hasn't changed much. I'm awake pretty much all night according to the fitbit. Maybe a little less restlessness.

But it was extremely rare before the cpap fhaf I would have a night that I straight out cant fall asleep. This week I've had two of them. One night went to bed about 9 finally around 1 am I took the mask off so I could fall asleep. This morning. I woke up at 3 am. Lied there for hours trying to fall back asleep.

It just happens more often. I really want it to work. I want that magic potion that I use this cpap and I'm like a new me woke up. More energetic and productive. But its like the opposite is happening. I find the nose rhibg kind of uncomfortable. Find the hose extremely annoying. I'm not sure what to do.

How about starting out by filling out your profile with the exact equipment you use and all of the settings.
There can be any number of things that can be disruptive to sleep in the first place and now with this new way of sleeping it can be even more so.

Most of us have learned in our own ways and in various time frames how to overcome those situations to get a good night's sleep. At some point it becomes second nature.

Hang in there.

And, if you go up to the Search line and put in "fitbit", there are about 20 pages of posts discussing it.
